Starsoftheclock Wednesday 23rd April 2025 Selections And Review

Yesterday’s Review

1pt win Something Splendid (100) – The selection had no excuses this time, and found this race much deeper than last time out. He never travelled like a winner, and weakened into fifth place when asked for more inside the final two furlongs. While ten furlongs may be his trip in the future, a drop back to the mile should see him in a better light for the moment.

0.5pt e/way The Feminine Urge (100) – Another step forward on the clock from this filly who ran a fine race to finish in third place behind a very impressive winner in Maelstrom (107). This was the fastest race on the card, and the winner looks a long way above Class 5 level. Result 3rd 9/1, 17/2 adv…16/1 SP.

Today’s Advice

SACRED FALLS (5f 212y Hcap) – This five-year-old mare was noted finishing best last time out over course and distance behind Mister Sox on seasonal debut. She looked to be given a sympathetic enough ride on her return, and hopefully that will have tuned her up for today’s (5.10) Catterick. As a hold-up performer she needs things to fall right, and hits the crossbar more often than finding the net. There should be enough pace on for her with plenty of prominent racers in opposition including Protest Rally, Quercus and Soul Seeker. Jason Hart takes the mount again, and he has won on her before, and placed three times from five attempts on the mare. The Katie Scott stable has been in fine form lately with a 71% Running To Form statistic. Stakes should be kept low due to her running style, but she looks worth a sporting interest at the prices on offer.
