Yesterday’s Review
0.5pt e/way Porfin (99) – A step back in the right direction for the selection who recorded a time just one length per mile slower than his third place finish behind Ash Wednesday last month. Unfortunately, he landed in one of the hottest races on the card with the winner Radiant Angel (106) recording a career best effort some five lengths per mile faster than Par for the class.
0.75pt e/way Pessoa (100) – A slowly run affair where three of the first four home raced in the first five positions three furlongs from home. Carey Street (94) was given a uncontested lead out in front, and the race was not run to suit the hold-up perfromers. The selection would not have been suited by the early pace, but was disappointing with his finishing effort.
0.75pt e/way Upepo (106) – A decent enough pace set by Miss Paloma enabled the selection to show the best turn of foot in the race racing from the rear. Jack Doughty’s mount was well enough handicapped to pass by seven horses on the outside from over two furlongs out. A sterling effort from the horse, jockey and trainer Tony Carroll. Result 1st 7/1, 13/2, 6/1 adv…11/2 SP.
