1pt win Sandscreendelivered (88) – Jockey Tom Queally reported that the selection slipped leaving the stalls. Unfortunately, he lost a lot of ground at the rear and never recovered.
Today’s Advice
SACRED FALLS (6f Hcap) – This five-year-old mare was denied a clear run on many occasions last time out at Carlisle, and the handicapper has left her handicap mark unchanged. Tonight’s (7.52) Ripon looks to have a bit of pace on paper which she needs as a hold-up performer. Mart, Emperor Caradoc, Lord Abama, Cash In and Neapolitan have all made the running or raced up with the pace previously.
Jason Hart retains the ride, and she remains in form, and only 1lb above the handicap mark she raced off when finishing a head behind Pop Star at Ayr last season. This will be her first try at tonight’s venue which can take a bit of knowing, so for that reason stakes will be kept low.
STEEL MAGNOLIA (6f 63y Hcap) – This lowly rated three-year-old filly showed her first piece of form last time out behind Sarahmae over the minimum trip at Tipperary on a Yielding to Soft surface keeping on at the finish into second place having been slightly outpaced. She only went down by a length and a half receiving nine pounds from the winner (who has since gone on to win again over course and distance) and the handicapper has actually dropped her a pound for that performance.
She hasn’t been seen in 41 days and the ground for tonight’s (8.00) Curragh is being described as Good. She is one of the more interesting runners though, and she warrants an interest at the prices. Favourite Annie Lavinia put up a decent display at Down Royal five days ago over seven furlongs from a wide draw and should appreciate the drop in trip in what looks a wide open contest.
