NORTHERN VIOLA (10f 50y Hcap) – The (2.59) Nottingham looks an interesting staying Nursery contest with the favourite Akaraka looking solid based on his runner-up performance behind Prince Kameo over the mile at Thirsk last month. Racing in touch of the leaders, he hung left two furlongs out before keeping on to finish a length down at the line. The step up in trip should suit but the price does look a bit short.
The selection was just over 2 lengths behind the Michael Bell trained runner on that occasion but turned the tables around on Prince Kameo nicely last time out over the 8.5f trip at Beverley. She looks like an improving filly by Stradivarius and it appears she has started her handicapping career on a very nice mark. Although the going was described as Good (Good to Firm in places) on the day the winning times were slower than standard and with a bit of rain forecast today conditions should prove no problem. James Sullivan is on board once again and she looks a shade bigger than she should be in the hope that she can continue on an upward curve.
