Today’s Advice

Lunario (8f 75y Hcap) – With the ground advertised as Soft (Heavy in places) at Nottingham today, ability to handle conditions will play an important part. The selection’s effort at Hamilton in August behind Theoryofeverything looks a decent piece of form from a few angles. On that occasion he made decent headway from the rear, and kept on all the way to the line, to finish third beaten just a half length. Today’s (4.17) Nottingham represents a drop in class from that day, and a recent keeping on sixth in a (0-95) on a faster surface at Yarmouth was another solid effort. It is hoped that the son of Gregorian will appreciate the return to the softer surface today, and his two most recent efforts also sit at the top of  the speed figure scale for today’s contest.

Bhean Saibhre (10f Hcap) – This three-year-old filly produced a remarkable finish when coming home best of all last time out at Roscommon over the extended twelve furlongs on a soft surface when finishing in fourth place behind Moutarde. She looked like she would finish well behind at one stage, but may have even won in another furlong. The drop back to ten furlongs is probably not ideal, but the uphill finish for today’s (4.57) Navan should suit her. First time cheekpieces have been applied, and hopefully they will get her to travel better in the early part of the race. This doesn’t look the strongest of (47-65) handicaps, and she may be worth sticking with while racing from a handicap mark of just 47. Apprentice Jack Cleary’s seven pound allowance is another positive, and he has been riding plenty of winners for Aidan O’Brien this season.
