Yesterday’s Review

1pt e/way Billy Mill – As mentioned in the write-up a good position from stall (1) would be needed with such little pace in the race. Unfortunately, 6L off the pace 10th of 12 was not what was needed. It is noticeable how inconsistent he is now away from the stalls. He did make up some late ground to finish 7th beaten 4.75L, but over this distance he needed to be up with pace. A return to 8f looks needed.

Today’s Advice

Tele Red (10f Hcap) Karl Burke’s likeable gelding takes his chance in the (1.50) Newbury after doing best of the prominent racers in a race where it paid to be held up at Ripon. Although this is an amateur race, jockey Jack Lander has won on the horse before at Pontefract over 10f. A decent run is expected from the consistent son of Telescope.

Little Trigger (9f Hcap) PF McEnerey’s 4-y-o caught the eye on seasonal debut at Listowel when making up decent ground around the tight track being beaten just 3.75L in eighth place. Tonight’s (7.30) Leopardstown may suit his galloping style a bit better. First time cheekpieces have been applied and Andrew Slattery retains the ride. A handicap mark of (47) looks decent to hopefully start his winning from.

Skontonovski (9f Hcap) Ado McGuinness’ 6-y-o has been given a chance dropped 3lb by the handicapper for tonight’s (8.00) Leopardstown. He can be a difficult horse to predict and needs a bit of rousting along to get interested. There were signs in his last three efforts that his first win since October last year might not be too far away. Cian MacRedmond takes off another valuable 5lb and he looks worth a small interest at the prices.
