Yesterday’s Review

0.5pt e/way Fortamour – As I had suspected the draw in stall 10 for the selection would need a bit of manoeuvering from the jockey to get over to the far rail. This was accentuated even more with steady rain after the fourth race. The first two home in the 4.01 race were drawn in stall 1 and 4 plus the first four home in our race were drawn in stalls 2,3,4 and 5. The selection was the only horse from a double figure draw to reach the first five positions.

Today’s Advice

The Stray Sod (6F Handicap) looks a value selection tonight to reverse form with Not Too Real Bad and Zaza Zut in the last race at Dundalk (8.15). The John McConnell trained filly had been improving on the clock with every run before finishing well over 5 furlongs, two runs back, at this track. With the step up to 6 furlongs tonight and a 17lb turnaround at the weights, taking into account Siobhan Rutledge’s 5lb claim, there is every chance for a reversal in form. Last time out on Heavy ground at Naas, the selection was badly hampered at the start ,and was forced to make up a lot of ground over the minimum trip. I liked the way she battled on through the difficult conditions and it will be interesting to see if she can return to form back at Dundalk tonight. As with all these 3-y-o only races we are still learning about these lightly raced horses. At the prices on offer I am happy to give her another chance to show her true form.
