Wednesday 12th April Selections and Review

12th April, 2023 @ 10:59am

Yesterday’s Review

0.75pt e/way The Stray Sod – Not the performance I was hoping for visually from the selection in the home straight. After finding a decent position, tracking the leaders on the outside, the response was limited. I expected to see more, at the business end, even though the winning speed figure of (102) was well above the Class Par.

Today’s Advice

Trojan Truth (11F 219Y Handicap) – this 4yo son of Ulysses ran a decent time on the clock, last time out at Wolverhampton, over the extended mile. The step up in trip should be much appreciated tonight at Kempton (8.00). Slow to get into his stride, last time out, he did his best work at the finish just beaten 1 1/4 lengths. That run may have sharpened him up for today’s longer trip, which would appear to be more suitable, judging by his pedigree. Off a lowly mark of (58) today, and with just nine career starts to his name, connections may now have a well handicapped horse. Interestingly the dam of the selection has placed on today’s Polytrack surface in the past, so hopefully conditions shouldn’t pose a problem. Hopefully there will be enough pace today to ensure a fair result.

Also, in the same race, there was a lot to like about Jersey Gift’s last run over the extended 15 furlong trip at Lingfield. The time of the race was very strong for a Class 6. The 5-y-o son of Nathaniel was on the wrong part of the track, on the far rail, when the race developed. He has been dropped another 2lbs, for that career best run, to a handicap mark of (63) today. With the drop back in trip likely to suit it shouldn’t be too long before connections can find the right race for our second selection.
