Yesterday’s Review
2pts win Non Mollare – The race went perfectly from the start, for Darragh Bourke’s mare, with a lovely position taken up on the inside. Unfortunately, when the pace quickened at the two furlong pole, there was no response. While the winner, Hellavapace, may have looked imperious, the winning speed figure was a mere (101). The exact number Non Mollare would have achieved, if she reproduced her Connie R victory. A speed figure of (96) for yesterday tells it’s own story. She has been kept very busy lately, with 5 runs in 30 days, and it may be the right time to freshen her up. Hopefully that’s all it was, and she can bounce back in future.
Today’s Advice
Lilkian (6F 1Y Handicap) this likeable 6-y-o gelding hasn’t been out of the first four places in his last nine races for trainer Darryll Holland. The son of Sepoy attempts to record career win number eleven in the (7.20) at Lingfield tonight. His three length defeat of Big Bard, over course and distance, looks even better now, since that horse’s easy win at Windsor on Monday. The formline with Gold Medal from the 29th March looks very solid. Although beaten 1 1/4 lengths on that occasion, and 3lbs worst off tonight, Dylan Cunha’s gelding is drawn in stall (8) and is the current 7/4 favourite. Lilkian didn’t get the cleanest of passages through behind Swiss Pride on that occasion, and was finishing very well at the finish. An excellent second place, behind lightly raced Bill Plumb, at Kempton from a wide draw showed the selection’s current good form. With plenty of pace on the outside tonight from Cool Lightning and Bezzas Lad, the race might just set up nicely for the selection from stall (3).
